The 8 Pillars of Wellbeing offer a gentle way to look at your life as a whole.

These pillars are worth thinking about because when one area is out of balance, it can affect the others too. But even small changes in one pillar can create more energy, confidence, calm, and direction.

1. Self-Awareness
Understanding your thoughts, emotions, patterns, needs, triggers, and desires. This is the foundation because we cannot transform what we are not willing to see.

2. Purpose
Living with meaning, direction, and inner alignment. Purpose does not always have to be grand; sometimes it begins with knowing what matters to you, or what are your values; and choosing more of it.

3. Self-Love
Building a kinder relationship with yourself. This includes self-worth, boundaries, compassion, forgiveness, confidence, and learning to stop abandoning yourself for approval.

4. Physical Health
Caring for the body as the home of your energy, emotions, and nervous system. Movement, rest, sleep, breath, hormones, posture, and daily habits all shape how we feel.

5. Nourishment / Food
Eating in a way that supports energy, mood, hormones, clarity, and vitality. Not restriction, but nourishment — learning what helps your body feel safe, strong, and alive.

6. Playfulness Reconnecting with joy, creativity, curiosity, sensuality, humour, pleasure, and lightness. Healing is not only deep work; it is also remembering how to feel alive.

7. Connection Healthy relationships, community, love, belonging, communication, support, and meaningful human connection. We heal in relationship with ourselves, others, nature, and life.

8. Emotional Balance
Learning to understand, process, and regulate your emotions instead of being controlled by them. This includes calming the nervous system, managing stress, creating inner safety, responding rather than reacting, building the resilience to move forward, clarity, and self-trust.

🧠🌿 Mind Detox: Declutter Your Inner Space

Think of your mind like a home.
Over time, it fills up with mental clutter: unfinished thoughts, stress, notifications, worries and other people’s opinions.

If you never tidy it,
it doesn’t just get messy,
it becomes overwhelming.

And science backs this up.
Chronic mental clutter and stress can overload your brain, affecting memory, focus and emotional regulation, linked to increased cortisol and reduced cognitive capacity.

Noise, scrolling, conversations, constant stimulation.

🧹 How to “empty” your mind in a healthy, science-backed way:

• Externalise your thoughts
Write things down (journalling or brain-dumping). This reduces cognitive load and frees up working memory.

• Reduce mental input
Limit scrolling, noise and constant information to the very minimum. Your brain needs pauses to process.

• Create white space
Walk without headphones. Sit in silence. Let your mind wander. This activates the default mode network, linked to creativity and emotional processing.

• Prioritise what matters
Your brain is not designed to hold everything. Decide what deserves your focus. Energy flows where attention goes.

• Let some thoughts go
Not every thought needs solving. Observing without reacting (mindfulness) helps reduce stress reactivity.

🏡 Remember:
A clean home does not mean an empty home,
and a calm mind does not mean no thoughts.

It means space.
Space to think clearly.
Space to breathe.

And creativity grows where there is space for it to exist.

The Powerful Practice of Creative Visualisation

Did you know your mind does not always clearly separate what you remember from what you vividly imagine?

This is why creative visualisation can be so powerful.

Creative visualisation is the practice of using your imagination with intention. You picture a desired outcome, connect it with positive emotion, and allow your mind, body and actions to move towards it.

In sport psychology, athletes are often encouraged by coaches to imagine winning, breaking records, or performing at their absolute best.

Research using EMG, which measures electrical activity in the muscles, has shown that when people vividly imagine a movement, their muscles can show tiny signs of activation, even when the body appears still.

In other words, the body is listening.

There is also fascinating research with students. Studies found that students who imagined the process of studying, preparing, focusing and managing their time performed better than those who only imagined receiving a good grade.

Creative visualisation is not only about picturing the final result.

It is also about mentally rehearsing the version of yourself who can create that result.

When you visualise, you are priming the nervous system.

You are training focus.

You are teaching the body a new possibility just before it becomes real.

The mind listens to images.

The body listens to feelings.

What you repeatedly practise believing will eventually become your relationship therefore your future.

Visualise it.

Feel it.

Align to it.

Move towards it.

See the results.

Happy Self‑Care Sunday 🌿

The weekend finally arrives, we catch up with friends and family, and for some of us, there’s only one day to recharge. In Europe, that day is often Sunday. So instead of pressuring ourselves to make the most of it, maybe we can use it to gently come back to ourselves.

Here are some simple, research‑informed tools to try when you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or just in need of a bit of a reset:

• Slow breathing

Try 4‑7‑8: breathe in for 4, hold for 7, and out for 8. Let the exhale be longer. That’s the important part. It sends a signal of safety to the nervous system and helps the body come out of stress mode.

• Body scan

Gently move your attention through your body and release tension as you go. Some people like to imagine each part softening or even smiling. It’s simple, but it can really help bring you back into yourself.

• Birdsong

Not just pretty background noise. If you think about it, birdsong has been with us since the beginning of time, back when we lived in caves, in nature. Research shows it can reduce anxiety. So opening a window or stepping outside really does count.

• Petting animals

Spending time with a calm animal can reduce anxiety. Sometimes the nervous system needs warmth, touch, and a safe little creature more than another thought.

• Hands‑on things

Drawing, colouring, gardening, cooking: anything tactile. These kinds of movements help bring attention back into the body and the present moment. Even short creative time can lower stress levels.

• Laughter

A comedy night absolutely counts as a good way of letting your mind switch off and your body unwind.

• Moving together

Dance, group walks, yoga; moving in sync with others can help us feel more connected, more grounded, a bit safer.

All of these are small ways to tell your body:

I am safe right now.
I can come back to myself.

It works. How do I know?

Because I had to put it into practice on myself.

I came out of years of isolation and emotional survival. I healed panic disorder, deep emotional wounds and rebuilt myself from the inside out.

What I gained was not perfection, but resilience. The kind where no matter what happens in life, you know how to find your way back to yourself again.

From this life-changing experience, I created my own approach: the AYLA-Method. It's a combination of different psycho-somatic techniques and tools. It stands for Adjust/Assert - Your - Life - Again. A total emotional, psychological and physical reset. Mind-body detox.

Life is a constant process of losing and rediscovering who you are. The beautiful part is that you have a choice.

Complaining is a pattern that keeps you stuck in the problem rather than moving toward a solution.

It conditions your brain to see more negativity, increases stress in the body, and reinforces a loop that rarely leads to change.

There is a lot happening in the world right now.

Conflict.
Division.
Uncertainty.

And people feel it.

Some more deeply than others.

Sensitive people don’t just see it;
they carry the weight of it in their body, in their mind, in their nervous system.

And maybe that’s why there is less tolerance now
for what feels false, forced, or not right.

But what’s important to remember is this:

There is a psychological principle often called the power of the minority.

It only takes a small number of people
who are clear, grounded, and consistent in what they know to be true
to influence the wider direction of things.

Connection creates strength.
Separation allows division.

And many of the systems that keep people stuck
rely on disconnection:
from self, and from each other.

But when people begin to trust what they feel,
and stand together instead of apart,

that’s where real strength is.

Can Your Daily Vitamins Slow Ageing?

A new study has sparked interest in the science of ageing. Researchers followed 958 participants for two years, measuring biological ageing through DNA markers.

The finding was modest but fascinating: those taking a daily multivitamin showed signs of slower biological ageing (estimated 4 months) compared to those who did not.

What makes this study particularly interesting is the large sample size and the duration. Two years in human ageing research gives meaningful insight into long-term physiological changes.

For me, this also highlights something I speak about often: the mind–body connection. Our physical state profoundly shapes how we feel emotionally and mentally. When the body lacks essential nutrients, our energy, mood and resilience are affected.

Nutrition is a huge topic and one I could talk about endlessly. But one statistic alone says a lot: around one third of the population is iron deficient, especially women. Many people are running on empty, pushing through fatigue, brain fog and low mood while constantly hustling without rest.

Sometimes what we interpret as “lack of motivation” or “burnout” may partly be the body asking for nutrients, recovery, and balance.

Health is never just mental or just physical.

It is always both.

As we slowly move through the final weeks of winter, I just want to gently remind you to take care of yourselves.

The long winter months can feel heavy. Less light, more time indoors, slower energy, muted emotions. This is completely natural. Our bodies and nervous systems respond to the seasons, whether we consciously notice it or not.

Please prioritise your self-care during this time.

Go outside whenever you can, even for a short walk. Daylight matters. Fresh air matters. Movement matters.

Consider your supplements, especially if you tend to feel low in winter.

Nourish your body with warm, grounding foods.
Spend time reflecting. Journal. Breathe. Check in with yourself.

And just as importantly, spend time with the people who feel safe and loving. Connection regulates the nervous system more than we realise. A conversation, a hug, a shared meal can shift your entire state.

Winter invites introspection, but it does not mean isolation.

Use this time gently. Listen to your body. Honour your energy.

Spring always comes, but how you care for yourself now makes all the difference.

We are stepping into the energy of the Fire Horse year… what it means?

This is not a quiet year.

This is a year of sudden pivots, sharp awakenings, and deep inner moments of:

🔥 “I can’t live like this anymore.”

The Fire Horse doesn’t whisper.

𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐜𝐤? 𝐓𝐨𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝? 𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐱𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬?

This isn’t your natural state of being.

Life isn’t supposed to feel like constant survival.

We make ourselves ill without realising it.

And how could you find the way out, if no one ever showed you how? No school, no family, no system truly teaches us to listen to our bodies, calm the mind, or self-heal.

Yet pressure and unprocessed pain condition us into states that feel permanent.

If I asked you not to think of Father Christmas all day, he would still appear in your mind several times, not because something is wrong with you, but because he is everywhere in December. The environment is saturated with him: shop displays, advertisements, jingles, social media, packaging, everyday conversations.

This is the core issue with modern stress, and stress related illnesses. Roughly 1 in 3 people (globally, or in many modern societies) show signs of serious mental or emotional distress at any given time; which often contributes to what we call “stress-related illness.” Our environment is no longer natural, but our nervous system still is.

We are naturally and biologically wired for:

--> rhythms instead of overload
--> safety instead of constant alert
--> seasons instead of notifications
--> village-scale relating instead of global noise

Yet we are surrounded by relentless input: news cycles, alerts, expectations, sales, deadlines, stimulation; so our system reacts exactly as it should when overwhelmed.

Stress does not persist because you are weak.It persists because your body is trying to stay human in a non-human environment.

I have spent nearly two decades working with clients and groups, developing a deeply effective holistic method called AYLA (Adjust/Assert Your Life Again) which is a trauma-informed, science-based approach to healing the mind and body together.

The Art of Saying No (Summary)

We often live on autopilot, identifying with our trauma and repeating old patterns. But healing begins the moment we realise:

We are not our thoughts, our past, or our circumstances.

We always have the power to choose our response.

Saying yes to yourself and saying no to what no longer is your 'energy', what doesn't serve you anymore.

Each no builds self-respect and strengthens your foundation.

The more you say no, the less you settle for less.

As Viktor Frankl taught, even in the darkest times, we hold one final freedom; the freedom to choose how we respond.

The art of saying no is ultimately the art of saying yes: yes to clarity, yes to strength, yes to yourself.
